A grease used to lubricate mechanical components within the pressure relief device may harden in the event of prolonged exposure to high heat. Hardened grease prevents the controlled emergency venting of tanks, leading in the worst case to the gas tank exploding. In such a case, damage to property and/or personal injury cannot be excluded.
